Counselor
Responsibilities
- \n1. Provide group counseling or individual sessions to help students establish satisfying personal relationships. \n2. Coach students to become more effective in areas such as interpersonal processes, communication skills, decision-making concerning personal and educational/career matters, and the establishment of personal values.\n3. Develop and encourage realistic self-appraisal, intellectual development, values clarification, mental wellness, appreciation of cultural and aesthetic differences, and independence to the student body at GUST.\n4. Promote healthy student living on campus by coordinating and implementing related programs.\n5. Assist students in overcoming personal, and educational problems or skills deficiencies.\n6. Promote student confidentiality and trust awareness on campus.\n7. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to identify environmental conditions that may negatively influence student success while proposing and implementing interventions that may neutralize such conditions and/or improve the environment.\n8. Develop and implement a community-based referral program under the supervision of the OSC senior manager.\n9. Initiate and maintain confidential individual student files as appropriate.\n10. Serve as liaison between students and faculty in identifying and addressing concerns.\n11. Provide crisis intervention and emergency support.\n12. Plan, direct, and implement health fairs at GUST \n13. Conduct healthy student living workshops.\n14. Assist in other related OSC services as instructed by the OSC senior manager.\n\n\nStrategic Planning\n\n1. Support in the development of a long-term structural plan for the area of Counseling which co-indices with the vision and mission of The OSC and The Gulf University for Science and Technology – GUST. \n2. Follow and update the manual set by the OSC senior manager.\n\n\nBudget\n\n1. Contribute sepulture advice to the yearly development of the budget for the area of Counseling which reflects upon the overall needs of the OSC. Overseen by the OSC senior manager.\n\n\nCommittees\n\n1. Serve on university committees for student enhancement and development appointed to the Counselor by OSC senior manager.\n
Experience
- 4-5 years’ experience in the field of higher education and experience working with college students addressing personal problems, career development choices, interpersonal relationships, and family and social issues.
