About the Faculty Member

Professor Erkan Bayraktar’s principal research areas include supply chain management, environmental management practices, quality management, information systems, facilities planning, and efficiency analysis of systems through data envelopment analysis. In his studies, he generally analyzes the impact of managerial practices such as information systems and environmental and quality implementations on the firm performance. He recently studied the effect of the pandemic on global logistics efficiencies. Professor Bayraktar has edited the book Management of Production and Service Processes (in Turkish). His publications appeared in leading international academic journals, including the Journal of Business Research, Information Systems Frontier, Journal of the Operational Research Society, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Expert Systems with Applications, Total Quality Management & Business Excellence, Journal of World Business, Industrial Management and Data Systems, and Journal of Biomedical Informatics among others. He was the recipient of several best paper awards. He is a member of the Academy of Management and Decision Sciences Institute. After working several years as a consultant in the industry, mainly with Big Three automobile companies in the US, he has been lecturing in several business and engineering schools in supply chain and operations management, quality management, and business management. He has been offering business seminars on various topics to the industry. Professor Erkan Bayraktar earned his Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.
