Comprehensive Language Skills

Listening

Students will practice applying essential interactive listening strategies to actively analyze a variety of real-world spoken texts such as lectures, discussions, debates, and interviews. Students will also practice identifying purpose, main ideas, and important details.

Reading

Students will practice applying essential reading comprehension strategies to actively analyze a variety of written real-world multi-paragraph texts. Students will also practice identifying the purpose, main ideas, and important details of a text.

Writing

Students will practice following a process based approach to plan, revise, and edit written and spoken work in order to produce coherent writing samples.

Speaking

Students will practice supporting and developing their spoken and written ideas by integrating their personal experiences, observations, opinions and/or recommending a relevant course of action. Students will practice composing and delivering relevant and coherent ideas using a range of connectors and transitions, as well as developing platform skills while refining and increasing spoken fluency.

Program Length

Program length depends on placement and progression.

A placement test is given to each new student before they begin their course of study to determine the appropriate level of instruction. The length of instruction depends on the results of the placement exam.
