Dr. Gertrude I. Hewapathirana is an Associate Professor of Management at the Gulf University of Science and Technology (GUST). Citizen of the United States of America (Dual citizen). Before joining the GUST, she has been a professor at Ashford University, Suffolk University, and San Diego State University in the USA. She has published a book, several book chapters, and peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr. Hewapathirana was a Hubert Humphrey International Fellow. She held senior executive positions (e.g., Managing Director, Deputy Executive Director, and Director Entrepreneurship and Business Development) in business and consulting organizations in Sri Lanka and the USA. Her research interests are innovations in small and medium companies, artificial intelligence, leadership, corporate social responsibility, organizational development, global human resource development, and international business strategy and entrepreneurship. She earned her Ph.D., MA, and MSc. from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, USA, and MBA and BA in Economics from the University of Sri Jayawardenepura in Sri Lanka. She has been an author, track chair, reviewer, and active member of the Academy of Human Resource Development and the Academy of Management. She is also an active member of several committees at the GUST. Dr. Hewapathirana is currently serving as the Internal Review Bord (IRB) Chair of the BA Department, College of Business at the GUST. She is a United State Presidential Award winner (Silver award) for her extraordinary services to communities.
