Mission, Vision and Strategic Goals

The College of Arts and Sciences supports the liberal arts mission of developing well-rounded, ethical individuals with the knowledge and communication and analytical abilities needed for successful professional and personal lives. CAS offers courses in the humanities, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, computer science, and physical sciences to establish a solid liberal arts foundation. The college is also the home to several centers that provide students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of local and foreign cultures. Active scholarship in teaching and research gives students opportunities to collaborate with faculty in research and creation of new knowledge. The college encourages high standards in education, unrestricted thought and expression, social responsibility, moral conduct, an appreciation of differences, and a love of discovering new things.
