Global Studies Center Research Travel Grant
The GUST Global Studies Center provides short-term research grants for Master and Ph.D. students only. They should currently be enrolled at a university outside Kuwait. The GSC provides up to two grants per year.
Who May Benefit:
A student working on Gulf-related or Middle-East-related matters (also Arab philosophy) and for whom a stay at GUST is beneficial.
A student desiring supervision by GSC faculty (humanities, cultural studies, media studies, etc.) whose research topic is closely related to the work of a professor.
Grant Details:
The grant will cover up to 200KD for airfare and up to 3 months accommodation (300KD per month) plus funds for miscellaneous expenses.
The GSC provides up to two scholarships per year.
Grant recipients should acknowledge their grant from GUST whenever presenting their work. They should also give a presentation at the GSC about their ongoing research.
Individuals may only apply once every five years.
Who cannot apply:
Individuals not enrolled in a Master or Ph.D. program at an accredited university.
How to apply:
Interested graduate students should send the following documents to gsc@gust.edu.kw and botz.t@gust.edu.kw: A CV; a research plan or research proposal (with dates) not longer than 2 pages, which fulfils the above criteria. Put a short abstract (50 words) at the top of the research plan. At a later stage we would like to receive a recommendation letter from the student's supervisor.
Deadlines: The committee meets on March 1st and on October 1st. Please send all documents before these dates to be considered for the corresponding period.
