Message From Head of Department
Welcome to the "new" Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department in the College of Engineering and Architecture at GUST. New means excitement, opportunity, and innovation. Being the first students and the staff of this new department provides a unique experience to become a part of this vibrant and supportive family. This experience will bring great opportunities for all of us in terms of personal and professional advancement. We are in the process of building a brand-new department in collaboration with our partner institution, Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T) with up-to-date curricula, the newest lab infrastructure and the best faculty member in line with the accreditation requirements of Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). We, as the students and staff, are here to improve ourselves and contribute to others/society through education and research.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at GUST strives to educate and nurture new generations of electrical and computer engineering talent for Kuwait, region and the world toward excellence and to teach them to apply their knowledge in solving practical problems through discovery, leadership and innovation. We seek to prepare our students for careers to serve industry, government and academic institutions, and enhance their leadership and entrepreneurial skills using learning-by-doing, and hands-on laboratory, project, and design-centered approach. A rapidly changing world requires preparing students to be “independent and lifelong learners” to be successful in all kinds of endeavors. Therefore, helping our students attain such skills is the main axis of our curricular and extracurricular activities.
Our department’s mission also includes the advancement of knowledge through interdisciplinary research and scholarship and apply that knowledge in areas relevant to Kuwait, region and the world in order to meet the demands of the society and global competition. We encourage our faculty members to work on cutting-edge problems, seek for collaborations with industry and university partners, produce high impact publications and patents, and serve the society with their expertise.
