1st National VEX Competition
The VEX competition is an internationally known robotics competition where students from different regions compete in their national bracket before qualifying for the world championship later that same year! It helps students to question, experiment and play using their natural skills as computer scientists and engineers.
This academic year, GUST had conducted the first national VEX competition in Kuwait!
The competition was spearheaded by Dr. Noura AlJeri from the Computer Science department. She, along with the DIRA Lab Technician and other CS department staff, planned, organized and prepared all the middle school and high school students that wanted to participate in this competition.
A workshop was even conducted for the teachers of the school students, so that they are able to mentor their students after being equipped with the robotics knowledge needed for the competition.
The students also attended a workshop (game elements, arena, rules) designed for them, along with their supervisors, and a total of 15 teams were organized for the competition.
The national VEX competition was then finally executed on March 4-5, 2023 (one day for schools and one for universities), in the GUST campus, with many school students and university students participating, showcasing all they've learned in the world of computer science, engineering and robotics!
The GUST team was qualified for the VEX World Championship in Texas, USA, from April 25 to April 27, 2023!
