Dr. Adarsh Swaika Inaugurates Indian Collections at GUST Library
On January 15, 2024, Dr. Adarsh Swaika inaugurated the Indian Collections at the GUST Library. The event was initiated with a warm welcome by Prof. Bassam, Acting President of Gulf University for Science and Technology.
During the inauguration, His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika shared his insights on India's rich diversity. He highlighted India as the world's largest democratic country, where people of all religions live peacefully together, and emphasized India's contribution to global wellness through yoga, now celebrated as International Yoga Day.
At the conclusion of the event, GUST Library Manager J'Amy McCracken informed attendees about the extensive collection of approximately 200 titles on Indian diversity. This collection includes works on India's cultural heritage, books on Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of India, and a biography of Narendra Modi, the current Prime Minister of India. Additionally, the collection features books exploring India's culinary delights and the cultural significance of chai (tea).
This initiative by the GUST Library aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of India’s multifaceted culture and contributions, enriching the knowledge and appreciation of Indian heritage among its readers.
Dr. Swaika, a 2002 batch IFS officer, has had an illustrious career with overseas postings in Moscow (2004-2006), Sofia (2006-2009), China (2009-2012), and Bangladesh (2016-2019) before his current assignment in Kuwait.
